Abstract

Currently, there are no instruments available in Mexico to assess limerence, primarily due to the limited attention this construct has received and its frequent confusion with other psychological conditions. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to translate, culturally adapt for the Mexican adult population, and evaluate the validity of the Limerence Scale by Wolf and Lemay, which measures limerent symptomatology. This was done through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses conducted on a total sample of 600 Mexican university adults. A six-factor model comprising 26 items was obtained (α = .898), demonstrating good internal consistency for each factor and adequate construct, concurrent, and discriminant validity. These findings support the conclusion that the Limerence Scale is a valid and reliable instrument for use in the Mexican adult population.
