Abstract
Cyber dating abuse is a social problem that significantly affects the population, especially young college students. Several research have explored the associated factors, however, the data concerning this problem in Mexico is still limited. Thus, this research aimed to estimate whether emotional dependence, attachment and myths of romantic love predicts both victimization and perpetration of cyber dating abuse in a sample of 111 college students from Leon, Guanajuato. The findings confirmed the association among the variables and highlighted that some elements of the emotional dependence and avoidance attachment are predictors of this type of violence. These findings point to the need to increase the studies about the risk factors of cyber dating abuse in young people, in order to develop appropriate prevention and intervention strategies for the Mexican population.
