Abstract
Objective: To analyze the longitudinal evolution of homicidal violence in Ciudad Juárez (1990-2026) as a sentinel case of prolonged social conflict. Method: Through a retrospective time-series design, vital statistics and local crime incidence were triangulated. Chow's structural change test was applied to assess alterations in the system. Results: Four phases of the conflict were identified. Chow's test (p < .001) demonstrated that, after the acute crisis (2008-2012), violence did not recede, consolidating a "high plateau" (2018-2026). Predictive validation in early 2026 confirmed the inertia of the phenomenon in the face of downward national trends. Discussion: The chronic regime operates through necroergodicity, assimilating lethal violence into the social climate and fostering learned helplessness. An isomorphism based on phenotypic transition is proposed, where macrostructural terror mutates toward microsocial environments (e.g., cyber intimate partner violence). Conclusion: An urgent restructuring of psychology curricula is required to transcend the intrapsychic approach in favor of restorative justice and community-based peacebuilding.
